If you have a big family and plan to enjoy your tent camping trip then a big tent is a must. If you have at least 5 people such as 2 adults and 3 kids you may or may not want to get a 5 person tent. Decide if you only want enough room to sleep if you would would actually like more room to move around it. Of course you will not want to spend much time in the tent unless it is freezing or raining, but the time you do spend inside your tent you will want it to be comfortable. One tent we really like for lots of room is the Eureka! Copper Canyon 1512 Family Tent which is a Twelve-Person tent with 15-Foot by 12-Foot dimensions. If you have 5 -8 people this should still give you some elbow room to move around. If you only want it for sleeping and you have a lot of kids then you can of course push the upper limits.
